History

The Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL), the largest representing society of Indian Dermatologists was established on 28th January 1973 after the amalgamation of all existing dermatological groups. IADVL is one of the largest dermatologic associations in the world. With a membership over 10000, IADVL is the most representative organization of the composite discipline of Dermato-Venereo-Leprology in India.

Goa, the smallest state in India with its only medical college, the Goa Medical College and Hospital obtained its first department of Skin and V.D. in the late sixties. Late Dr Vithal Laxman Rege single handedly started the department. Later, Dr V.N. Sehgal,Dr B.M.S. Bedi, Dr V.L. Rege, Dr Flora Mascarenhas Miranda took over as HOD in that order and expanded the department, keeping the ties with IADVL organization all the while.

Earlier, dermatologists in Goa were members of IADVL Maharashtra branch but conducted their scientific and educational activities, meetings etc as “Goa Association of Dermatologists“ under the Presidentship of senior Goan dermatologists namely Late Dr V.L.Rege, Dr Amala Kamat, Dr Vinay N. Kharangate, Dr Brenda Menezes, Dr Dinesh Deshpande, Dr Vikas Panvelkar, Dr Naguesh Pai Kakode.

As the members and activities increased, it was unanimously decided to form a separate Goa state branch of IADVL.

On 18th May 2016, with the guidance, support and encouragement from the National IADVL committee, the Goa State branch of IADVL was born.

At present there are more than 50 members of IADVL Goa state branch

Mission and Vision

That we will implement, cooperate and, participate in all programs and directives of IADVL for the betterment of our members and society

To conduct CME programs , Cuticon and educational workshops in Dermatology and allied specialities for enhancing knowledge of our members.

To develop brotherhood among members through professional fellowship, co-operation and exchange of views so as to achieve ethical practice of dermatology and to uphold their interests.
